Introduction
The American legal profession has been struggling with the issue of being a more diverse and inclusive profession for over a century. Efforts continue apace but the breadth and complexity of the issue make it difficult for practicing lawyers, judges and others who are vested in achieving greater inclusion in the profession but lack the time to fully study and understand the issues to gain a panoramic perspective and understanding of the profession’s efforts as a whole.
In the absence of a systematic and comprehensive way for those interested in and concerned about diversity and inclusion in the legal profession to stay abreast of the most current information about statistics, issues, strategies, programs, or policies pertaining to the subject, IILP has launched a program to look at, report on, and discuss the State of Diversity and Inclusion in the Legal Profession. This effort is comprised of two parts:
The State of Diversity and Inclusion in the Legal Profession offers the comprehensive scope needed by leaders in corporations, law firms, government agencies and bar associations to effect meaningful change in their own organizations. It collects and compiles all the most current and relevant information into a single source so that anyone seeking the information need no longer investigate myriad sources and hope something valuable has not been overlooked.

It includes:

The audience for the symposia are corporate General Counsel, other senior management in corporate law departments, and corporate in-house counsel; law firm chairmen, management, and partners and professional personnel involved in law firm diversity efforts; government agency and public policy leaders involved in diversity and inclusion efforts and supplier diversity goals; human resources professionals; academics; bar association leaders; judges; and law students.
