Are the legal profession’s diversity, equality and inclusion issues, challenges, and strategies for success different outside London, New York, and the very largest metropolitan areas? Are opportunities for career success different for lawyers who are women, racial minorities, openly homosexual or transgender, disabled, from lower socio-economic backgrounds, or who belong to other groups that continue to be underrepresented within the legal profession if they establish their careers in other cities or smaller communities? Has the globalization of the legal profession and the growing presence of multinational clients and their need for law firms and chambers in a greater variety of cities afforded more, less, the same, or just different opportunities for diversity, equality and inclusion? What do those who would see a more diverse, equal and inclusive legal profession need to know about the experiences and perspectives of British lawyers outside London? Might there be meaningful opportunities for collaboration and innovation in diversity, equality and inclusion efforts between diverse lawyers in the US and the UK outside those in the largest cities?
